A Foggy Waking

I love watching the fog slowly rise above the mountaintops. It is nature's sleepy way of opening her eyes to a new day. She starts slowly, then rises in anticipation. A few times the fog seems to fall back down -- blinking sleepily and wondering if she really wants to get up quite yet. The singing birds encourage her to fully awaken and blink open into all this day has to offer.

A child's laughter down the road invites Sarah out on to the porch, wagging her tail in anticipation of greeting a new visitor.

The garbage truck creaks and squeaks its way into the neighborhood, inviting the trash of last week in where it will be taken to a new home.

The neighborhood dogs begin their morning chorus. How I wish I could listen in to their language and understand their conversation.

The morning breeze is light and welcoming. It wraps itself around any who go outside to its invitation.

And here comes the sun! The final and ultimate stamp on the morning. The authority of the day that declares it is time to arise and enter in to the promise of this new day.

For these few moments I join her in taking a deep breath before stepping up and in to all this day holds.

I am reminded in Scripture of the times Jesus went off on his own ...
      ... to pray
... to get away from the crowds
... to be enveloped by creation around him
... to receive guidance from his Father

It is a wonderful example on how to start each day.

I pray you may know the assurance of God's love holding you close this day.
Take a deep breath and here we go -- bring it on!

Enjoying the Journey,
Debra

And He will make your path straight
