Cleaning Out

As I prepare for another move I look about to the many things I have. The many, many, MANY things I have. The many things I have that I do not need to have. I think I wrote about it a few days ago and called it all "STUFF". It is that -- but it is time to give "stuff" a name. It is time to name it, claim it and let it go.

I used to see cleaning out as a painful thing. It was hard to let go.

No more
I love to clean out .
It is a good thing to rid myself of things that conjure old, painful memories
It is a good thing to rid myself of the many things I do not need
It is even a good thing to rid myself of things I love. It is time for someone else to enjoy and love them.

It has become a very personal, spiritual experience as I offer thanks for special things and pray they might bring joy to others. I pray for the strength to let go of inward hurts as I let go of those things that take me to that place. I pray for more of God alive in me as I seek to have less material things.

I've been humming one of my favorite worship songs throughout this time of letting go. Lincoln Brewster's Today Is the Day (You Have Made) is a song I always enjoy starting my day off with but the words go far deeper for me as I realize the absolute necessity of truly believing God has so much in store for me. I must trust and know God will open new doors in God's perfect timing.

I'm casting my cares aside
I'm leaving my past behind
I'm setting my heart and mind on You
Jesus
I'm reaching my hand to Yours
Believing there's so much more
Knowing that all You have in store for me is good
Is good
Today is the day You have made
I will rejoice and be glad in it
Today is the day You have made
I will rejoice and be glad in it

So I go in to this day joyfully so as I look forward to naming and claiming more things -- and then letting them go.

This is a good thing.

Enjoying the Journey,
Debra
