Discovery

The birds are singing.
There is a slight breeze wafting in through the open door.
The sun is peeking over the ridge, almost as in a sleepy yawn before stretching her beautiful long arms and calling all to attention. It is a new day! Wake up!
The smell of coffee rises invitingly from the kitchen.
Sarah runs out on the porch for her early morning "bark-fest" with our neighbor dog.

I cherish these early-morning times of peace and discovery.

I wonder where my place is in the world anymore.
This isn't a time filled with pitiful and pity-filled musings. Far from it.

My heart is overflowing with gratitude.
Need more be said?
Perhaps not - for then these moments of gratitude would be hushed by the noises of a busy day moving in and taking over.

If ever I celebrated more it is during these early-mornings, my favorite time of every day.
Perhaps it is for the sweet promise of hope I cling to these moments.

A car horn beeps. The sound is almost foreign.
The horn on the stack down the road at the paper mill blows shrilly, letting our community know the end of one shift and beginning of another.
The deep, rough bark of a much bigger dog yells out. Sarah comes running in from the porch to snuggle in my arms.

It's official.
A new day begins.

And I can only wonder what adventures we might enjoy this day?

Enjoying the Journey,
Debra
