I open the door and we hear Macy at the foot of the steps barking. Sarah tears out of the house and down the steps. Macy is this cute little ball of fur who looks like she bounces as she dances all around and Sarah runs back and forth -- all the while barking to each other.
I love this morning ritual. It is a joy-fest.
It is a far more enjoyable way to start the day than with the morning news.
I wave to a lady as she walks down the street.
Have no clue who she is but it doesn't matter.
AND NOW A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR
I love that God never leaves us to guess.
I wonder how I should treat others today?
Is it ok to be grouchy all day?
What if someone is rude or hateful to me first?
Why should I even bother to care?
HELLO! Before I even ask, before the words are uttered from my mouth the answers are before me.
God's Word is filled to overflowing with the "DO's" of life. It really isn't a book of "DONT's" -- it is complete with a chorus of grace, waiting for us to read and embrace.
Scripture reminds us everything we do should be done in love
everything
not just the things we feel like
not just on the days we are in a good mood
not only to people we know and like
We are to do everything -- or as other translations say ALL (things) be done in love.
Dang. I try to find an "out" and I don't see one. It's pretty clear: gotta do all things in love ... gotta respond to all others in love. It doesn't say -- "Let all that you do be done in love ... to those who respond back to you in love. Nope. Scripture is silent on that part -- apparently that part is not important. What IS important is that we do ALL things in love to ALL people whether they give a flip about us or not.
All I know is this: when I choose to obey these words of instruction my life is all the better.
Not saying it is easier -- some days are filled with great disappointment and pain but in those days I remember I am never alone. God's Word reminds me of that.
I'm going in to a new day.
Oh please don't let me mess it up! Oh that's right, I'm not alone -- I stand a chance after all!
And so -- do -- you.
Enjoying the Journey,
Debra
